Swarming Season

A century cicada swarm erupts from a cave system below the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church north of Wichita, Kansas. Casualties begin ramping up as a near-apocalyptic number of insect hosts wash over smaller towns and devour all that is edible, people and groceries alike. The UCAS Army tries responding to the crisis to the best of its ability, but the swarm's alien hivemind is faster at reacting and the threat will likely be contained...

...the question is, at what cost?

Kansas Swarm

Estimated numbers of the swarm is anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 hosts, most of them ranging in Force 4 to 7.

Important Members

• The Cicada Queen's whereabouts are unknown, however it's expected to be exceptionally cunning or sponsored by a greater evil to manage a swarm this large without being discovered.
• Several insect shamans are expected to be involved as a single queen is unlikely to succeed at creating this many hosts on her own. This is, however, only inferred by the expert advisors, not confirmed.

UCAS Army

The primary defensive force for all metahumanity against the swarm as of now. Drafting a small number of unofficial mercenary forces for initial aid, the Army's response so far has been about as good as one can expect, given the unexpected emergence of the Kansas Swarm.

Important Members

• Major General Harry Vought is the base commander at Fort Riley. He's been assigned to handle the conflict at hand, being in charge of the nearest military base to the catastrophe site. With a diverse set of forces in Ft. Riley, ranging from Air Force assets to mechanized infantry, General Vought isn't lacking in ordnance from his secure position in "America's Warfighting Center" as it was known in the Fifth World. Despite this, he's under extreme stress to not screw up this career-defining military operation and time will tell if he rises to the occasion or breaks under the crushing weight on his shoulder.
• The 1st Infantry Division was a combined arms division of the United States Army and continues in that role under UCAS control. It is also the oldest continuously serving division in the Regular Army. It has seen continuous service since its original organization in 1917 during World War I. It was officially nicknamed "The Big Red One" (abbreviated "BRO") after its shoulder patch and is also nicknamed "The Fighting First." The division has also received troop monikers of "The Big Dead One" and "The Bloody First" as puns on the respective officially sanctioned nicknames.
• Partnered assets that closely operate with Fort Riley are not under the direct command of General Vought but have been assigned to the operation as supportive elements.

Goals

• Protect all metahuman life, prioritizing Wichita, Hutchinson, McPherson, Marion, Florence and El Dorado.
• Rout the Kansas Swarm
• Hopefully catch each insect shaman and the Cicada Queen, exterminating the swarm far more easily
