Character Information
Fern Naerain's journey began in the cold and sterile halls of Telestrian Industries. Originally employed as a low-ranking guard, she soon proved that she possessed a determination that set her apart. Through hard work and dedication, Fern climbed the corporate ladder, finding herself a spot within the elite Pixy Squad, a specialized unit that dealt with the most delicate and dangerous missions. Pixy Squad, comprised of individuals with diverse skills, became Fern's new family. Among her comrades were Jessica Brinly, Torau Nolem, Ulem Borrinea, and Asher Whitaker. Together, they faced corporate espionage, hostile extractions, and covert operations that tested the limits of their abilities.
The turning point in Fern's life came in the early 2070s when Pixy Squad received an assignment that would change everything. Telestrial Industries had discovered unsettling secrets within the depths of Aztechnology, a powerful megacorporation. Fern, with her combat skills and determination, was chosen to infiltrate Aztechnology's inner sanctum. Sent deep into the heart of the Aztec Amazonian war, Fern faced a brutal battleground. The conflict between Aztechnology and the Amazonian forces was fierce, and Fern found herself in the midst of the chaos. Unfortunately, her mission took a dark turn when she was captured by the Amazonians. Tortured and broken, she lost an arm in the process.
Fate intervened when Sirrurg launched a sudden assault on the Aztec forces. The chaos that ensued temporarily unlocked Fern's confinement, giving her the chance to escape. With sheer determination and an iron will, Fern fought her way out and made her way north to the UCAS region. The journey back was a harrowing experience, both physically and mentally. Isolated and haunted by the trauma of her captivity, Fern struggled to cope. Her mind became a battleground of memories, constantly reliving the horrors she endured in Amazonia. The toll on her mental health manifested in unhealthy ways, leading to a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder.
Yet, Fern was not one to succumb easily. Through a strict regimen of medications, she managed her condition, a daily struggle to keep herself balanced. The scars, both physical and mental, shaped her into a resilient warrior with a haunted past. After returning to Seattle, Fern, determined to rebuild her life, focused on healing both physically and mentally. The mundane existence of a veteran, however, proved to be insufficient to satiate her restless spirit. Yearning for the adrenaline and danger that had defined her past, Fern sought a new path, and it led her straight into the turbulent world syndicates and crime underworld. Of her own volition, Fern joined the Finnigan family.
Fern carved her own place, rising through the ranks with a tenacity that caught the attention of those in power. Among the key figures she encountered were Llewin Val, the mysterious leader with connections that ran deep, and Pramanix, a prototype test human whose indebtedness to the Fins made him an intriguing ally. The journey into the Finnigan family was far from straightforward, filled with treacherous twists and unpredictable turns. Yet it wasn't long before her exploits drew the attention of Rowena O'Malley, the leader of the O'Malley Syndicate.
Rowena O'Malley, recognizing Fern's unique skills and unwavering determination, handpicked her to become a made man and a personal consiglieri for the family. This unexpected twist thrust Fern into a position of influence and trust within the Finnigan hierarchy, a place where loyalty was earned through blood and where power was the ultimate currency. As a made man, Fern found herself entwined in the intricate web of Finnigan family dynamics, facing challenges that tested her loyalty and cunning. The enigmatic Llewin Val, the indebted Pramanix, and the formidable Rowena O'Malley became not just associates but integral parts of Fern's new life. The shadows of Seattle, once a battleground of war, now echoed with the whispers of power, politics, and familial ties.
Fern, now at the helm of the Hounds, a group of outcasts within and outside the Finnigan family, found herself in a position of leadership. She led her unconventional pack with a blend of maternal care and strategic cunning, forging a tight-knit bond that transcended the traditional boundaries of organized crime. However, the delicate balance Fern had maintained came crashing down when the Hounds targeted the wrong adversaries. The repercussions were swift and brutal, causing a ripple effect that threatened the very foundations of the syndicate. In the chaos that ensued, Fern became the target of an assassination attempt. Shot twice in the back, she defied the odds, earning herself the moniker 'The Invincible Spriggan.'
Facing imminent danger and with the Hounds she considered family in peril, Fern made a desperate decision. Despite her past separation from Pixy Squad, she reached out to her former comrades for help. The bonds forged in the crucible of shared missions and battles proved resilient, transcending time and divergent paths. The Pixy Squad, now a group of individuals who had moved on to various endeavors, couldn't turn their back on Fern's plea. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and fueled by a sense of loyalty to their former comrade, they rallied to her aid. It was a reunion of warriors, each carrying scars from their own battles but united by a shared history.
Together, Pixy Squad and Fern confronted the forces that threatened the Hounds and the fragile remnants of the Finnigan syndicate. The reunion sparked a resurgence of old camaraderie and battle-hardened tactics. In the face of adversity, The Invincible Spriggan and her Pixy comrades fought a desperate battle to save Fern's comrades in the Hounds. Yet, the battle came at a major cost. Fern's life took an unforeseen turn after the Pixy Squad came to her aid. The favor they granted her, however, came with a hefty price. The enigmatic True Sulla, deadpan and demanding, stole away Fern's original name, leaving her identity in the hands of the capricious Fae.
As if that loss wasn't enough, the dangerous and distant Eniafialla broke Fern's spirit with an otherworldly weight that seemed to crush her very essence. The Vindictive and sadistic Lord Rehr, a Fae of power and malevolence, forced Fern into a pact, binding her to a servitude that left her tethered to the whims of the Fae. Now, Fern finds herself living a precarious existence, walking a tightrope between the mundane and the supernatural. Every step she takes is weighed down by the obligations imposed by the Fae. True Sulla's stolen name serves as a constant reminder of the cost she paid for seeking aid from Pixy Squad. Eniafialla's distant influence shadows her every move, a haunting presence that challenges her spirit.
The pact with Lord Rehr adds another layer of complexity to Fern's already tumultuous life. Forced into service, she treads carefully, attempting to fulfill the demands of the Fae without losing herself entirely. The supernatural binds threaten to unravel the threads of her existence, testing her resilience and determination at every turn.

Contacts
Core Contacts
Fern Naerain's connection to the Fae is a complex and multifaceted entanglement, forged through a series of fateful events that followed her plea for aid from Pixy Squad. This connection is marked by a trio of powerful and enigmatic Fae entities: True Sulla, Eniafialla, and Lord Rehr.
- True Sulla - The Name Thief
- Sulla played a pivotal role in Fern's connection to the Fae by stealing her original name. This act stripped Fern of her identity, leaving her at the mercy of the capricious Fae. The stolen name serves as a constant reminder of the price paid for Pixy Squad's assistance, and True Sulla's influence remains a looming presence in Fern's life. Sulla calls Fern "Little Twitch Ears" When fae speaks to Fern.
- Jessica Brinly - The doppleganger Unfurled
- Fern's connection with Jessica Brinly took a sinister turn as the revelation unfolded that Jessica worked directly for True Sulla, acting as a conduit for coercion into the Fae realm. Once comrades in Pixy Squad, their relationship now bore the weight of manipulation and betrayal. The entanglement with the Fae introduced an element of doubt and tension, as Fern grappled with the unexpected twist in her history, questioning not only her connection to the Fae but also the loyalty of someone she once considered a trusted ally.
- Eniafialla - The Spirit Breaker
- Eniafialla, dangerous and distant, inflicted a profound impact on Fern by breaking her spirit. The weight of Eniafialla's influence, otherworldly and crushing, challenges Fern's resilience and inner strength. The scars left by Eniafialla's actions shape Fern's journey, as she strives to overcome the spiritual toll exacted by this distant and formidable Fae entity.
- Lord Lirael Rehr - The Vindictive Master
- Lord Rehr, vindictive and sadistic, forced Fern into a binding pact, compelling her into servitude to the Fae. This pact is a constant reminder of Fern's indebtedness to the supernatural forces that now dictate aspects of her life. The vindictive nature of Lord Rehr adds an element of malevolence to Fern's connection, with the Fae entity holding sway over her actions and decisions. Rehr also calls Fern "Little Twitch Ears", but they put emphasis on little.
- The Green-Eyed Witch - uncaring observer
- In addition to her intricate ties with True Sulla, Eniafialla, and Lord Rehr, Fern finds herself observed by "the green-eyed witch." This mysterious figure stands as an uncaring watcher, indifferent to Fern's struggles and intervening only when it aligns with her whims. The green-eyed witch, a symbol of freedom as they are unattached to the politics of the other fae, becomes an eerie presence in Fern's life, offering assistance selectively and imposing her will as she sees fit.

Strained Contacts
Fern's connection to the Hounds, the group she once led and considered her own family, has undergone a noticeable transformation. Previously, Fern served as the guiding force, a maternal figure, and a leader within the tight-knit community of outcasts both within and outside the Finnigan family. The bonds forged during their shared struggles created a sense of camaraderie and loyalty.
However, in the wake of the tumultuous events that unfolded, particularly the assassination attempt and subsequent entanglement with the Fae, Fern's connection with the Hounds has become somewhat distant. The weight of her experiences, the repercussions of the failed confrontation, and the ongoing obligations to the Fae have created a divide between Fern and the Hounds she once raised like a mother.
