Characters

  • Gigabite - Ex-FTD Decker turned into a social butterfly.
  • Iron - A man so bitter, coffee beans run for light.
  • Angra Mainyu - Null Wizard dedicated to refining her ability to deny the mage.
  • Sephiroth
  • Stacy - Sociopath Face that wouldn't hurt a fly... physically, at least.
  • Veles - Ukrainian Monolith member and cognitively suppressed cyborg.
  • Black Sabbath - Fomoraig doppelgänger of a notorious villain and whispered healer of the Redmond Barrens.
  • Wychking - Patriot and Invae hunter aiming to protect her country from Saeder-Krupp's greed.
  • Zero - Should've been Delta Force if it weren't for her broken anti-magic aug prototype.
  • Saladin - Islamic Alchemist hoping not to end up like his father.
  • Skynet - E-Ghost Major in the UCAS Army

Gamemaster Foundation

As a vague rule of thumb, I tend to prioritize combat, exploration and social aspects of TTRPGs in a 20/40/40 ratio, adjusting somewhat according to run theme.

Declining A Run

Generally I prefer to choose characters that will accept the run so that the ones that do accept will not need to work at a handicap. Refusing to do a job to its completion after gaining more information during a run, however, is acceptable. I will assume a general amount of informedness owed to the communication between a fixer and a runner they're in contact with, so there shouldn't be a situation where this will become an issue at the meet outright. I make an attempt to write job postings that are direct about the job's contents; this should prevent a meet-'n-dash from happening.

Player Agency

If I make a run that's railroaded, I'll generally inform players about that ahead of time to temper expectations. I also aim to provide a couple surefire options to progress the gig, but remain open to novel approaches the players might have. One thing I've noticed is many players are incredibly meek in offering other options or taking initiative, so this is mostly an adaptation to give them something to not get hardstuck mid-run.

Consequences

I want to be on the players' side as the gamemaster. I generally avoid giving gotchas and as long as the characters have semi reasonable explanations for anticipating consequences, I let them know ahead of time that what they're attempting could backfire badly. This might lessen the shock factor for some who watch Critical Role and want to get that wow factor all the time, but I communicate as well as I can and want to make sure players are making informed decisions when they can. Once you make a choice, however, I expect you to be a good sport and not mope about it on table. Defeatist attitudes can get you soft banned from playing at my table again, because that drags down everyone's mood, not just yours.

Intended Style

Generally speaking, I lean towards the more depressing aspects of a dystopian corporate world with supernatural elements. I do not focus on these for shock value, but to test the players' characters and give them trials and tribulations to develop. Moral, ethical and even spiritual struggles develop character and are a great catalyst for growth as far as narrative goes. That said, I dislike excessive gore and typical shock tactics. TTRPG veterans tend to try and get the absolute optimal endings most of the time and can get defeatist if I offer them a very clear binary choice they can't just cheese their way out of -- if having to make sacrifices isn't something you're comfortable with, I might not be the GM for you. That said, if it's reasonable I will generally try to accommodate compromises and unexpected resolutions that could end better than I anticipate initially.

I will always list content warnings in a run posting if I believe it may be sensitive to some people.
