Born SINless on the streets of Seattle, Johann Sanderson lost his parents around the age of 7. After that, he grew up as part of a gang of child thieves (he would provide a distraction and beg for nuyen while others picked pockets). Sometime around 18, when he was serving as the adult gang leader's second in command, someone got caught during a routine job and flipped on the gang rather than face prison. After a brutally short shootout, the leader was killed, along with those kids stupid enough to put up a fight. The rest were arrested. Johann was off trying to get answers about the missing kid when the raid happened, and came back just as the raid began. He walked past the condemned building that had been his home and the gang that had been his family and just kept walking. | |||
At this point, the only family he'd ever known scattered to the wind, Johann survived by begging and pulling short cons on tourists. He developed a Betel habit, as the cheaply available gum let him spend more hours a day separating rubes from their pocket change and maybe get enough to eat. Of course, before long, the gum became more of an expenditure than the food, and he ended up even worse off. He was starving and begging for a meal when he first discovered his magic and met Raven. He quickly went from two--bit con man to expert social adept, a leader and negotiator who can simply ask for whatever he wants and get it, and he pledged to become strong enough to protect and support those close to him. Raven led him on a months-long walkabout through the city, eventually leading him to settle down in Ass End, where he took to neo-anarchism like a fish to water, using his magic to serve the community and discovering more about what he could do along the way. However, after advancing his craft about as far as he could, he realized two deeply unfortunate truths: (a.) he could be doing more for the cause, and (b.) needed cash. Summary
A Neo-A street shaman and social adept trying to get by and make the world a little better in the process, if he can.
