Hi! I'm SedatedAlice!

I am a level 3 GM on the Haven that specializes in new player runs, Matrix games, and character advancing runs (think initiations, dealing with bounties, submersions, etc.).

Style

  • I am a big, big fan of storytelling. My runs tend to have a big focus on narrative elements over combat, so be prepared: your combat heavy character may not have much to do on my runs.
  • My Johnsons will only work with PC's they deem professional.
  • My runs tend to run the gambit between pink mohawk and black trenchcoat - the run post itself will be your best guide as to the tone of the run.
  • I enjoy doing runs that are personalized and happily take requests! Just DM me on Discord.

Player Safety

Player/roleplay safety is a big thing on my table. As a reminder: playing an X-Card is your right on the Haven, and I encourage you to use all the player safety tools at your disposal! I'm here to make sure we all have fun, and being uncomfortable isn't fun! I have macros, tokens, and cards set up on my Roll20 to make sure you have all the tools to help me know if I am making you uncomfortable!

Pick Policy

In an attempt to make things as fun for all as possible, I try to strike a balance with run picks in roughly this priority:

  • To create a balanced team dynamic so as to ensure a smooth run with the highest chance of success (everyone wants to be a winner, right!)
  • To make sure that each person has their time to do cool stuff! It's no fun being the person doing all the work or the person who wonders why they were even brought on the run.
  • To reward people who do things I appreciate as a writer! It's hard sometimes to balance narrative and wanting to be an optimized bad ass, and I appreciate someone who likes narrative fluff more than optimized flavor.

In short: I attempt to make thematically interesting and mechanically balanced teams from the applicant pool that has the highest chance of success.

Declining The Meet

I allow players to decline the meet if there is a character conflict I may have missed. Please have why you might decline a meet on your wiki page - or at the latest, let me know when I post picks for the run.

There's More than One Way

Instead of flatly declining a job, sometimes it is interesting to work for a different outcome than the one the rest of the players are aiming for. I'll permit this (and reserve the right to, in the future, structure runs around this), but it has to be done in good faith, with my full knowledge -- so just message me and we'll sort it out. Failure to do this will not be looked upon kindly.

The Setting

Shadowrun is made of not sunshine and rainbows - I try to have things be internally consistent within the world, as I think that makes for a much more interesting run. I also appreciate characters that are internally consistent with the setting and, when I read your run post response, I can really get a good feel for your character.

Consequences

A good story has to have believable obstacles and consequences. I believe that there should always be a threat! If you fail, I will not be kind as there were ways to avoid that failure. Failure isn't the end, however, as I believe that failure is an important storytelling tool. If you mess up, you and/or your team can pull your bacon out of the fire by doubling down at the risk of making things more difficult in the future.
