CAPTAIN FREEFALL is a tragic character because he was so mundane. Being born as a minotaur is a huge deal in Seattle. He was not only a member of a metatype that is less than 5% of the sprawl, he's a member of a variant with only a handful of minotaurs. Following that, he was bullied and ostracised for his nerdiness and idealism. He turned to trids as a way of coping with the loneliess and cruelty of the world, falling for the corporate propaganda at a young age.
CAPTAIN FREEFALL is a HERO OF JUSTICE.
He modelled himself off an oldschool hero rebooted by NeoNET to give wageslaves just enough hope not to revolt. Freefall was too literal though and embodies a heroism that exists only in fantasy but rarely works in the real world.

Origin Story

CAPTAIN FREEFALL was just an ordinary teenage Minotaur, living with his mother in a run-down apartment in Touristville. He was watching his favourite action superhero trid when he heard a comotion in the alley below the apartment window. Looking out, he saw a person getting mugged by 3 gangers, and he Knew What He Had To Do.

He leapt from the window and landed in the classic superhero landing. His arms and legs would've been shattered if he hadn't been a troll. He stood up straight and declared "Never fear, I am here!" He then proceeded to be beaten into a bloody pulp, and learned the importance of actual fighting skills.
