One of the first vampires to be turned after the Awakening was the firstborn of Regency Megamedia's vice-president, Harrison Yuvlicht. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth and used to luxury, the usual route to the penthouse wasn't available when all hell broke loose. Trying to find an alternate route, Claire Yuvlicht took one wrong turn and ended up in the deepest, darkest reaches of her psyche to escape what a bunch of psychotic street-dwelling trash were to put her through. The chaos that ensued that year and the absolute turmoil society suffered from left an infected, hospital-ridden corporate woman in a ward and out of the media's sights. Quietly disowned and swept under the rug, her existence wasn't something her father wanted to ever think about again. | |||
She's completed a sixty-year long grudge of revenge against thirteen men that wronged her - some she mutilated to death, others she drained dry with her vampiric powers. At the end of it all, she stood with her quest complete and a body falling apart. With [[Swerve]] pleading for her to not give up, Charon turned to a Great Dragon for aid and as a member of the [[Black Lodge]] she became an enslaved pawn in the forces of the world's strongest for dominion over it all. Through great efforts, desperation and the fate-defying force of shadowrunners, she was brought back to her own body, freed from disease in a miracle and freed from bondage with the Baobhan Sith she once callously viewed as nothing more than a tool. | |||
Moonblessed Silver-Tongue Crescent-Slash is a former Unseelie Fae from the Seelie Court, having been caught in the great game among her kind and subjected to humiliation and suffering for all time for it. She had no room to go but up, but no opportunities to seize before Charon demanded karma from a powerful fae and Crescent-Slash was the unwilling donor. Now, the spirit pact permanently binds them together, rendering both immortal and leeching the traits of one onto the other. Crescent-Slash exists as the greatest of all traitors among Fae - a traitor to not only the Court, but to all Fae. Charon takes this as a point of pride and will die to defend her one true compatriot in the world. | |||

== | ==Abilities== | ||
* '''Charon''' is a Magic 18, Initiate Grade 11 physical adept of the Dark Magic tradition following the Speaker's Way. Her social infiltration and gunslinging abilities speak for themselves. Beyond this, her fae-like SURGE makes her appear vampiric in several ways, a glamor that rivals that of dryads and a poisonous fanged bite that can kill the average man. Using a vintage Colt 1847 Walker revolver and State of Purity with her bare hands, there's little Charon can't intimidate, punch or headshot. | |||
* '''Moonblessed Silver-Tongue Crescent-Slash''' is a Magic 10, Initiate Grade 10 Baobhan Sith. She's able to drain Essence to feed herself without permanent damage and bears such a deathly beauty to herself that few mortals can resist her allure. A full magician, Baobhan Sith is a capable artificer and sorcerer, although she detests alchemy and conjurers. Expect her to know practically every normal Illusion spell and most common Health, Manipulation and Detection spells. She also owns a Force 7 Power Focus. | |||
==Notes for a GM== | |||
* Charon hates dragons. A lot. Crescent-Slash hates the Seelie. A lot. Both were enslaved by their enemies and now that they cast off their yokes, intend to never go back. | |||
* Crescent-Slash is talkative and often asserts her superiority through her archaic speech. She mostly plays with people's assumptions, only to abruptly break the stereotype behavior at a jarring moment. Crescent-Slash refers to herself using the royal 'we' which adds further anachronism when combined with the various early 2000s memes Charon has taught her. At times, she even recites old memes as if they were words of power to cast spells with. She is generally more serious than Charon is, though this comes at the cost of also being far easier to irritate. She bears a grudge and will find a way to make it hurt if disrespected, whereas Charon's more likely to ignore and handwave minor transgressions. | |||
* Charon uses humor to deflect many arguments or criticisms that she doesn't feel like engaging in. Often this means intentionally acting in embarrassing or cringy ways, quoting outdated jokes or making pop culture references. It's also a coping mechanism for her to deal with the intense craving for nostalgia and depression over the madness the Sixth World contains compared to the Fifth. It's difficult to make her do anything on someone else's schedule and she more often gets serious only when she personally decides to do so, becoming far easier to work with then. | |||
* As genuine Lodge members, neither Crescent-Slash nor Charon prefer interfering personally, sending lackeys or manipulating choice encounters to produce the results they want instead. The Lodge wants to maintain influence, not assume direct control. They prefer being the sponsors telling the vizier what to whisper in the sultan's ear, not the sultan himself nor his vizier. Charon and Crescent-Slash both inherit this general modus operandi, only stepping in personally when necessary to make adjustments and ensure that things go according to script and their assessments of people's tendencies and personality traits. They often observe and read people, forming dossiers on their preferred methods and use these to build circumstances where the puppeteered individuals do what they want them to do. | |||
* Due to their permanent Spirit Pact, Charon no longer ages and can occasionally use some of Crescent-Slash's powers if it's agreed by them both. If one dies, the other does as well. They're on good terms with one another and will go to extreme lengths to defend one another, so threats to one will not be received well by either one. Threats to the Lodge have slightly more leeway, since Charon understands that the organization is vile in many ways. | |||
* Due to the Black Lodge's shadowy nature as puppetmasters, Charon is less likely to care about the principles of freedom of choice. She'll manipulate people into doing what she wants if she believes it's for the greater good and stability of civilization. Individuals have less value than the larger whole. This is completely devoid of power fantasies or sadistic urges and she won't do so unless necessary, but neither is she afraid to arrange things in ways that leave the right people with no other choice than to play into her hand. | |||

Overview
With Swerve pleading for her to not give up, Charon turned to a Great Dragon for aid and as a member of the Black Lodge she became an enslaved pawn in the forces of the world's strongest for dominion over it all.
Together, the notorious serial killer, the Crow of Seattle and the Seelie Court's most hated Judas stand in the Black Lodge's ranks, casting a smothering shadow over Seattle's underworld that suffers no machinations of dragons if they can help it. Vast magical talent, two hundred years of experience combined and knowledge of both worlds, mundane and spiritual, Charon and Crescent-Slash seek to eventually gain influence across all of North-America from the shadows for the betterment of all of its residents. Even if she has to do so without their consent. She doesn't do it for power, but to make a difference. Just don't try to tell her that it makes her no different from an autocrat.
Loyalty
- Prove Yourself. If you call her, she already has a plan to get you assassinated on the spot. No sensitive Lodge info is shared, period, and she only provides information if what you do with it benefits her. And she won't share unless you tell her what you're using it for.
- Surface Judgment. You've had alright encounters a few times, so she no longer has three contingencies just to have a conversation. Most interactions are still via commcalls and with a voice warper. She can use her personal knowledge of situations to help out, but is reluctant to involve her networks to get any actual work done.
- Quid Pro Quo. You're a known quantity, which means she knows how to blackmail you and how to put your balls in a vise. This means that she's willing to actually work properly with you because she can control you if needed. Minor, unintrusive services like basic taxis are fine, but she likely won't go opening corporate building doors for you.
- Based. You've proved to likely be a safe acquaintance and not side with dragons or the Tirs. As a result, both Charon and Crescent-Slash greet you with warm welcomes and arrange basic services without personal distrust. Operations that directly benefit the Lodge get support from local assets that are coordinated under careful supervision.
- Trusty Asset. The two are in agreement that you're useful to both them and the Lodge. She'll still curate any information shared, but is willing to use local influence to smooth run complications out without much issue.
- Associate. Charon is willing to involve Lodge assets on even personal operations for you and invests time herself to ensure your safety. If caught in dire straits, she'll organize rescue runs out of her own pocket.

- Charon is a Magic 18, Initiate Grade 11 physical adept of the Dark Magic tradition following the Speaker's Way.
- Moonblessed Silver-Tongue Crescent-Slash is a Magic 10, Initiate Grade 10 Baobhan Sith.
Notes for a GM
- Charon hates dragons. A lot. Crescent-Slash hates the Seelie. A lot. Both were enslaved by their enemies and now that they cast off their yokes, intend to never go back.
- Crescent-Slash is talkative and often asserts her superiority through her archaic speech.
- Charon uses humor to deflect many arguments or criticisms that she doesn't feel like engaging in.
- As genuine Lodge members, neither Crescent-Slash nor Charon prefer interfering personally, sending lackeys or manipulating choice encounters to produce the results they want instead.
- Due to their permanent Spirit Pact, Charon no longer ages and can occasionally use some of Crescent-Slash's powers if it's agreed by them both. If one dies, the other does as well. They're on good terms with one another and will go to extreme lengths to defend one another, so threats to one will not be received well by either one. Threats to the Lodge have slightly more leeway, since Charon understands that the organization is vile in many ways.
- Due to the Black Lodge's shadowy nature as puppetmasters, Charon is less likely to care about the principles of freedom of choice.
Aspects Description
Aspect | Description |
---|---|
Black Lodge Loyalist | Charon and Crescent-Slash aren't just members of the Lodge. They're true believers that within the ranks of this shadowy organization they can change the future of the world towards prosperity. They will under no circumstances work to undermine the Lodge's influence -- the only exception is occasionally turning a blind eye for greedy self-serving members' attempts for personal gain, not the Lodge's gain. |
No Dragons, No Elves | Charon will never work for the benefit of anyone that has direct connections to dragons. If she later finds a PC used her services for a dragon's benefit, she'll set a 200,000 Nuyen bounty on them to all mercenaries of the United Canadian-American States. Drakes and elves must pay double CDP to raise her Loyalty up to a maximum of 4 and require a run to increase it past 2. |
Physical Adept | Be wary of asking Charon for direct aid. She dislikes getting directly involved and if she does, she's likely to not take it seriously, trying to do 360 headshots, other tricks and challenging acrobatic kicks instead of optimal tactics. Ancient media quotes and references are abound as well -- Charon won't provide serious aid to anyone without 2 chips and at least Extreme run difficulty. |
Unseelie Magician | For 10 karma per ritual, Crescent-Slash willing to perform high thaumaturgy such as Divination, Psychometry, Healthy Glow Healing Circles, Blood Sight and Whispers of Bones. She never provides direct assistance on-site, however, only performing rituals in her lodge - the heavily warded penthouse in Bellevue. |
Seelie Court Archeology | Due to a long life and countless forbidden tomes the Lodge possesses, Crescent-Slash is an expert when it comes to all sorts of mischief among the Seelie Court. She's less up to date on recent events, however, but can provide exceptional historical references and encyclopedic tidbits. |
4th World Knowledge | While they won't share more knowledge about the matter, they will gladly owe a chip for new information provided and can tell at a brief glance if some item or piece of information relates to these deep, dark subjects that are best left for stubborn minds to ruminate on. |
Wall Street Classic | Charon grew up on the 5th World's version of Wall Street. Surrounded by typical 80s businessmen from an early age, she has an innate understanding of corporate greed and capitalism's effects on the psyche. If you need her help on how to twirl corpos around and how people like that think, she's one of the world's most seasoned experts. |
Seattle Local | Through and through, the entire sprawl is her oyster. Ask and she'll probably know where, who and what. |
We Own Them | For 1 Chip, Charon can pull some strings and get a Knight-Errant or Lone Star police chase pull away. Maybe they're told this is a misunderstanding, maybe they're told the real culprits are in the opposite direction. The Lodge is everyone. The Lodge is everywhere. Don't rely on her too much and sometimes she can work miracles. |
Renaissance Traditionalist | Crescent-Slash likes studying mortal magical traditions and as a result can identify the traces of traditions left in items of various sorts, even astral signatures. Just bring them to her! |
Milk Run Scouting | For 1 Chip, Charon can personally get off her lazy ass and check a place out. This will be in a way that carries no serious risk to her which means that she can only receive basic information without specifics and she's never able to provide Matrix intel beyond T1 and T2 Matrix Searches. |
Chantry To Chantry | If you're working in another part of the world and are in good terms with the Black Lodge, Charon might be able to put in a good word for you and get the local Lodge to co-operate. This requires at least Loyalty 3. |
Dragonslayer | Need to know how to slay a fierce wyrm? She's got you covered, able to provide detailed information about the breeds' strengths, weaknesses, habits and most common patrons. As a cherry on top, she will provide 2 chips as a reward for proof of a slain dragon. |

1 | Greek mythology has a ferryman called Charon, taking the souls of the dead across the river Styx from the world of the living to the realm of the dead. |
3 | Footage from illegal urban brawls, security cameras and declassified security reports show a woman with long, blonde hair in a high fashion coat taking an inhuman amount of gunfire and ripping security guards in half with her bare hands. Reports of her being shot through the chest and walking away unharmed have caused a theory to erupt that she may be a ghost. |
6 | A criminal going by the same name has a massive bounty placed on her by both Regency MegaMedia and SpinGlobal. Few have attempted to collect it. Saeder-Krupp has placed a bounty of over 2.5 million nuyen on her head as of 2084. Several bounty hunters that began tracking her have gone radio silent since and were later found in Nepal and Tibet with seven knives stuck in their backs. Charon has a perfect alibi to not be the one responsible. |

5 | Charon's suspected to be involved with the Black Lodge |
Enemies
Kera | Charon turned her into a vampire, betrayed her colleague and probably screwed up her entire life. To no-one's surprise, Kera wants her dead. |
