Character Information

Description

Cassidy MacRae, A.K.A 'Bannerette', is fairly short for an elf at just under 6ft tall. Though well-built from her long years of military service, and her physically intensive lifestyle, she still cuts a distinctly feminine figure. Her fiery red hair falls to shoulder length when let down, though she prefers to have it tied up in order to keep it out of the way. Her soulful blue eyes seem to glow in the dark, which turn to an icy stare when she is focused. Her hands are calloused from long hours at the range and give the impression of a person who does a lot of physical work, though in her opinion it's never enough. Through her magical abilities as a physical adept, she is far tougher than she seems, and she can have short bursts of supernatural physical ability. Though she prefers camouflage patterns on her casual wear, her favorite being the classic old US woodland, she does also enjoy wearing more traditionally feminine clothes and will often default to a fancy sundress when it's time to dress up.

Cassidy is a bit of a medieval history nerd, and though she's no scholar, she owns a fairly impressive collection of books on the subject. Her matrix persona is modelled after a Hospitaller Knight, every matrix game she plays is set in medieval times (or at least a fantasy version based on it), and she still talks to her old LARP gang even after moving out to the mountains. Her remote home makes it hard to go to church, so she prays whenever she gets a chance, though she probably sends up enough prayers centering herself on the job. These days, she spends most of her time working around her cabin in the woods (though its more of a one-woman army base), doing repair work constantly to keep up with the wild horned bear that moved in with her of it's accord (his name is Sir Cuddles). Cassidy makes a point to hang out with Major Paige as often as possible, though both being busy so often, it can be hard to find time. Feeling unfulfilled with protests or the odd donation, Bannerette spends a sizable chunk of her off time in the cascade mountains as a sort of unofficial ranger. She's by no means the best survivalist, but she's probably better at it than most.

Goals

1. Help her long-time friend Major Paige Jenkins build her career back up now all thats left is to get reinstated, if at all possible
2. Learn to wilderness, and move there to escape the city's gross smog mountain cabin living!
3. Sharpen her aim to the absolute limits of what a person can accomplish
4. Upgrade all her ware to delta, and gain the ability to regenerate
5. Learn to operate aircraft, and get an attack helicopter
6. Become a demi-god of the northern mountains

Background

Cassidy MacRae was born on November 11th, 2036 in the city of Chicago as the 5th child of Connor and Francine MacRae. Connor MacRae was a veteran, and the owner of the apartment block in which they lived. Her mother, Francine, was a nurse at the local VA hospital at which Cassidy would often volunteer. Due to hard times for the family, the financial burden on her family of having her 4 older siblings going to local university, and her younger brother falling ill, Cassidy began her career in the UCAS marines in December of 2054 (a decision that made her father very proud). Shortly after her training had completed in mid 2055, Chicago became bug city; Cassidy was among the forward elements of the military response to this incident, though she did not know the real reason she was being deployed there due to the UCAS coverup story of a VITAS outbreak. Cassidy spent a few months at the containment zone assisting (Read: grunt work) in logistics operations before the real reason there was revealed. After watching in horror as a nuclear warhead detonated in her home city, Cassidy was assigned light duty for the next 6 years. Her entire family was presumed dead, and their bodies were never found. She buried 7 empty coffins alone.

Following the six year period of light duty, and narrowly avoiding a section 8 over the death of her family, Cassidy was assigned to participate in the Mojave Desert Wars(tm). From 2061 until 2069, Cassidy was a minor but successful and well-regarded participant on behalf of the UCAS. After her 8 year tour-on-tape, she achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was reassigned to the UCAS-Sioux Nation border. Tensions there were high, and incidents where minor, but not unheard of, and her ability to keep a level head on the playing field made her a good candidate in the eyes of her superiors. Here, she met Major Paige Jenkins, and became good friends with her over the next 13 years. Though she would distinguish herself as a promising leader on the border, and among the longest serving officers there by early 2082, disaster struck her career and the career of the Major. Reports concerning the incident conflict on who fired first, but during a routine patrol accompanied by the Major, a skirmish broke out with opposing Sioux forces and multiple casualties on both sides were sustained. Cassidy herself was shot in the leg. The political fallout resulted in the Major being reassigned to a logistics posting in Seattle, while Cassidy got a phony medical discharge. Robbed of her career, her pension, and her benefits Cassidy was forced to turn to the shadows to make a living. Connected with Paige's shady cousin sunglasses, a decently connected fixer and general parazoology enthusiast, she took her first step into the shadows in December of 2082.
